So, I installed WinXP Service Pack 2.
Lots of little features and toys, including mainly tighter security for web browsing.

You'd think it would include some utility or driver for hibernation, but nope.
Any ideas? It's still hanging on shutting down some programs (and this happens with AIM off, too).

Edit, 10:30 CDT Sun 05 Sep 2004: I should mention I was having this problem before; I just thought SP2 might help eradicate it.

I'm going to refrain from installing SP2 for a while. There's always bugs in these updates - especially the big ones - and hearing your experience and others' suggests that waiting might be the best move.

Hope you can either get it figured out or uninstall! Or - can you do a System Restore back to the pre-SP2 state?

System Restore will roll XP back to before SP2, yes. Probably. If there haven't been too many additional changes made since...

S'ok
I don't think SP2 did anything bad to this notebook. I just haven't seen it do anything useful, either (other than blocking the scripts in Outlook).

SP2 CAN wait
Breast cancer can wait, SP2 needs a drop-in tech visit?

I know it's a cartoon, but I'm seriously tempted to make an "SP2 can wait" icon. :-P

No ideas, but I've been having the same hibernation problems... and curiously, it never hibernates outside of the docking station.

SP2 messed with my off battery settings....

I've had problems with that hibernation problem too...I guess since the computer thinks your not connected to the 'net anymore, it shuts down those programs.
