Oh, never yew mind
Aye would never use the Yoj in vain, and yew know eet!

I be told to infrom yew that yew have a gorgeeus v6ice adn taht yew are vert pleasant.

Oh, and they have made me partake of snake soup and this odd lille (wlel, big) dungeoness cwab with hot peepers lal over it, and this vert odd other fwoot that they say is the Queen of Fwoot. Apparently durian is the King of Fwoot and I fear they are going to thry to make me eat some soon.

Toronto be cllo (both in temperature and clutural ambience).
I have had more dim sum that a hobbit stomach can easily contain, and gonten a very odd hiarcut.

Now!
Help me identify this fwoot.

1. It loonks liek a big chestnut on the outside, only kinda urplish
2. The inside loonks liek a bulb of garlic, only vert juicy.
3. It's sweet like a guiyuan or lizhi
4. In Chonese it's called shan1 zhu2 (mountaigne babmoo)
5. As I mentioned above, it's referred to as the "queen of fwoot".

Re: Oh, never yew mind
Bha!!! SO EASY!! I dknot know lal the chonese names, but BOVIOUSLY the Queen of Fwoot is the MANGOSTEEN. Everyone knows that! Durians are the King and make you "hot", and Mangosteens are the Queen and "cool" you down! They grow in the same season and smart people eat them as a pair! Duh!!

And who be they, pray?

Bha!!! SO EASY!! I dknot know lal the chonese names, but BOVIOUSLY the Queen of Fwoot is the MANGOSTEEN.
Loonks up mangosteens.
Yer wright, taht's it.
Thnak yew thnak yew!
Now. Why is the queen lal prim and propah and the king lal boorish and couvert with giant deeadly spikes? Adn stinky?
(And don't gimme none-o-that Men are From Durian, Women are from Mangosteen pap!)

Hrm. Bruce Mangosteen and the Ni Street Band
sounds like a fun name. (Oh! BTW, wot is yer bnad called?)

Everyone knows that!
Not me!
*jumps up and down*

Durians are the King and make you "hot", and Mangosteens are the Queen and "cool" you down!
Kings are from Arien, Queens are from Tilion dknot may naz sense either.

They grow in the same season and smart people eat them as a pair! Duh!!
Wlokaz.
I'm dumb.
But I'm cool, see?

And who be they, pray?
My aunt and uncle.
Moomy and daddy of my cousins Jon (my squire and amror bearer) and Emily.

Because that's the way things are. Men are stinky boorish Durians and Women are fragrant little purple blobs.

(And don't gimme none-o-that Men are From Durian, Women are from Mangosteen pap!)
But it's true!!!

(Oh! BTW, wot is yer bnad called?)
We is the Urban Race. Although we started a second "sister" band and the poor thing is called Urban Race Band 2, so we're thinking of changing our name. Keyboardist whined about being blasted to death by the drummer in our small practice room and suggested we call ourselves "Blasted", but we decided against this not only because we'd have to say "I'm in that blasted band..." but also because it rhymes with bastard.

And who be they, pray?
My aunt and uncle.
And wot are they doing knowing what i sound like and who i am!?!??!!!!

SCAWWY!

Do we need to stage a rescue?
Acos if memory serves, the moomy of Jon and Emily is your Scary Shopper Aunty.

And this is perilously close to Black Friday, which is pretty much the highest of the high holidays for good Scary Shoppers.

This could be dangerous. Take care of yourself.

Too late there, ma'am
We hit half the Asian malls and groceries in Ye Olde City of Toronto.
And I have the photes to prove it!
The way to avoid being bored with Shopping Goddesses (esp. if one is estrogen-challenged like yours truly): bring a PDA, blog about whatever whilst you are standing around. Oh, and I have a new solitaire record.

Actually, t'was fun.
I got more engrish than is safe for a Jedi hobbit to have.
Saw Mamma Mia. Way cool.

And. And! Did you know Wicked is opening in Toronto in March, 2005? Three months before The Lion King reopens in Chicago. Yes! You heard it here first.

Here in Rochester...
... and I did pack Sting (my iPAQ H3635), so there will be a travellogue. Mostly involving fwootcake. And seafood. And snake-eating (not yet... don't get me started).

Right now we're looking at... you guessed it: family vacation photos.
And other piccies.

Re: Me too
The first one isn't until the end of February, but I will be going home for Christmas break. Not that Decatur is much better than Manhattan; however I'm planning on visiting some friends in Chicago and St. Louis. It'll be something like 30 days from now, yeah!

Re: Me too
somewhere along the lines, i got put on some conference call for papers email list. i really wanna know how, because they got one teensy little detail wrong

...everything is addressed along the lines of

Hello Dr (firstname) (lastname).

a few years ago, i went to an acm regional thing at uiuc. it was the year that the guy that invented tetris AND one of the sealandians talked. the former is what got me there, the latter was just a really cool nifty thing i saw while there.

ksu needs a good laugh after a third quarter 23-9 (ksu) turned into a fourth quarter 37-23 (isu)
i thought you'd appreciate the fake news :)

and dim sum? color me green with envy. there's hardly any decent chinese-american places here (i visited quite a few before i started reviewing), let alone ones with dim sum. i'm going to have to drag my parents and their best friends to chicago's chinatown (gasp) during the middle of the week (shockshock) while i'm home. [the dragging because they live about two and a half hours from chinatown]
