Prayers for all affected.

Edit, 23:00 CST - Quoth oskeladden:
tamf and I are safely [ensconced] in Norway at the moment, far from harm's way.
The beach where my grandfather takes his morning walk was washed away along with a few hundred morning walkers. Fortunately, he decided to sleep late.

Belated happy birthday, lordmathem!

Good...hopefully everyone else that warrants concern, that you know, is also fine.

I've been keeping quiet on this because...it's embarrassing in conjunction with my tactless Christmas post.

Thank you. Yes, everyone I personally know seems to be all right.
We're still waiting to hear from yodge, but she is in Singapore (I think; either S'pore or Bangkok).

Eh, but you didn't know about the Indonesian earthquake yet, right?
From your entry date, I don't think it had even happened yet.

Thanks for your good wishes and prayers.

The physical tremors were felt as far as Bangladesh.
Correct, it hadn't even happened yet.

One of my former denominational alignments (Third Wave, a theologically literate variant of the Charismatics) takes the I Corinthians "gifts of the Holy Spirit" seriously. Neither glossolalia, nor the synesthesia that goes under "discerning of spirits", left when I flipped denominations to Eastern Orthodoxy.

So...is it prophecy, or a highly trained intuition? Either would be tactless. (To a naturalist, the same thing.) Technically, the boxes superimposed on the linked ocean-temperature change map for Dec. 24 didn't call this earthquake.
