More studies in tanelos: Sunset over The Little Apple

18:07 CST Wed 19 Jan 2005
Manhattan, Kansas

Click on the picture above to see my latest album. I think I'm getting a little better with this Canon PowerShot S50 digital camera. I've taken about 1400 photographs with it to date (October, 2003 - January, 2005) and kept fewer than 500. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

I really hate telephone poles. Can someone recommend a good digital airbrushing program, please?

For those of you who are not clear on why masteralida, darana, and others call me "Hyper Boy": look at the times on those photographs (17:56 - 18:08, under 12 minutes). The commentary took a bit longer.

Yep... I'm going to show this to SithlordOnyx the next time I see her online and see whether it looks familiar to her.

Where in KS are you from again?

Re: Be my guest!
Ah, OK. Major farmland down there - masaga, one of my grad students, comes from a farming family near Wichita.

Cool, and good to get to know another Kansan!

Why give a hobbit an airbrush, when you can teach him how to live without telephone poles?

Good pictures, though.

Perians sans Frontieres
Well, that's the other thing. The caption to #16, which JAlbum ate because it doesn't allow linefeeds in comments, should read:
More blurriness.

(Yes, I realize I get my broadband through those same lines. I'd still like to be able to photograph a sunset without them.)

Good pictures, though.
Thanks!

Airbrushing program?
I don't know if it's what you're looking for, but Pixia is kind of a nice little graphics program. It's freeware (no, really) and though I haven't used it much with photos (except for icon stuff), I think it's supposed to have airbrushing capability. You can take a gander here.

Hello there!
Thanks!

Did you come over here from fotography?

In any case, it's good to meet you.
OK if I add you? Feel free to add me back, if you like.

I use a gas chainsaw. At $280, its a lot cheaper than most of the digital photo editing suites out there.

UFOs over Kansas!
Very pretty, the colors are so vivid...

Are you able to see lots of stars from your house? There didn't seem to be a ton of light pollution in these shots, is why I'm wondering.

BTW, we all know the truth...that "light" wasn't really a street lamp, but a UFO. Just like the cloud you liked in the lower-right-hand side of that one picture. (^_~) *cue X-Files theme music*

Did you handhold those shots? If so, does the S50 have stabilization? Or are you actually some kind of a can-hold-still-for-1/4-second mutant freak? ;-)
