OK, show of hands. Who has not seen Revenge of the Sith yet?

You're too dangerous to be left alive!

Reading reviews is not seeing.

[Demonstrates SO(3)/SU(2) duality with a glass of water...the hand goes up twice, turning the glass of water 360° without spilling it.]

Ummm...
Huh?

Please clarify?

You've read bad reviews and don't intend to see it?

Unfavorable work schedule
The reviews I've read (yechezkiel, visgoth, goodluckfox) have been favorable.

The problem's my workday. My billable time is diffusely spread out over the ~18 hours each day I'm awake. It's next to impossible for me to set aside a solid chunk of time to do anything without trashing my work schedule.

I plan to watch Van Helsing on the 1st of June, when my internal scheduling system rolls over.

Physical algebra
[SO(3)/SU(2) duality]

Louis Crane party trick.
  • SO(3) is the group of rigid rotations about a point in R3.
  • SU(2) is the group of rigid rotations about a point in C2.
  • When modeled in matrices, there is an algebraic homomorphism (map that distributes with matrix multiplication) from SU(2) to SO(3)...turns out that, essentially, there are two copies of SO(3) embedded in SU(2). So it's possible to hold a glass of water in your palm and turn it around 360° without breaking your arm. Arm up; 180°turn; arm down; ....

I'm really surprised you haven't seen it yet. WHY!? I saw it, and it made me want to go out and buy episodes 4-6.

Haven't seen it yet, but I plan on seeing it soon.

(Which is what I said about half a dozen movies that came out in the last six months and that I never got around to seeing.)

I've not seen it yet essentially because I hate everything about the theater experience. The last movie I saw in theaters was Fahrenheit 9/11, and before that Fellowship of the Ring. I reserve it for movies that I absolutely must see before they go to DVD.

You haven't?! I'd ask if you've read the book, but I know you've already got quite a stack to read ;)
