I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Bana, you are killer cute. I mean, absolutely adorable. For real.

*cuddles and hugs*

What's the secret? Is it Botox? Blood of a vampire bat? Or do you possess the ring!

Qyoot lille birdie
That IS a cute little bird! I never noticed the feet - but I can always count on observant aiwendili such as yourself to notice. :-)

I don't think I ever mentioned this, but I was an Audubon society member for a year or so (1985-1986, IIRC). I wish I still had my issues.

My advisor (depicted above) once worked on "automatic ornithological census by song" (as in, put a recorder in the woods and digitize sounds, then analyze them to see what species of birds are in the area).

Re: Qyoot lille birdie
do you have to pay money to be a member? i've thought about this, am looking for stuff to get involved in, and obviously i can't get enough of birds.

National Audubon Society
Yes, but the national membership is only $20 a year, and the magazine is quite nice.

I should re-join, if I could be bothered to keep the mags tidily and donate them once every few months to a library or someone who will read and keep them.

No, it's not my hand. It's a pic from a conservation website; they're holding the feet to take better/clearer pictures of the species they were studying.

It's a linnet--I was thinking about W.B. Yeats' poem "The Lake Isle of Innisfree" the other day on Bloomsday, and went looking for a pic.

The Lake Isle of Innisfree
That is a cool poem.

Re: The Lake Isle of Innisfree
There's a Celtic band I listen to, that's no longer together, named Clandestine. They wrote music for "Innisfree" that's absolutely beautiful and captures the haunting quality of Yeats' poem.

Hee
Thanks!

I almost never use that basement lab - some people look at the photo and can't even figure out where in Nichols it is, because it's basically only early undergrads, teaching assistants, and the odd robotics person who even goes down there.

Basement lab
Heh, I shouldn't think you would - that's got to be one of the most generic-looking labs I've ever seen.
