Separated at birth?

What a week in music contests!
First an Orc wins Eurovision, and now a Vulcan is poised to win American Idol.

(Thanks to bqggz for identifying Lordi as an Uruk-Scandinavian, and to gondhir for noting Taylor Hicks's Vulcan features.)

ETA, 11:05 CDT Tue 23 May 2006 - If you haven't heard "Hard Rock Hallelujah", the winning Eurovision 2006 performance by Finnish band Lordi, well, here it is.

Live Long and Prosper
I just can't believe nobody has asked Taylor to demonstrate the Vulcan Nerve Pinch. (Of course, he's probably one of those logic-less Vulcans from that episode of Enterprise.)

Now all his fangrils will want to mind-meld with him...
