The Late Show with banazir

I was just looking over my recent entries, and it seems I've turned into the David Letterman of current music.
You know, with the theme-specific music during the Top Ten Lists?

Computer problems: The Revenge of Thunderbird
02 Sep 2006
Mary-Chapin Carpenter - Simple Life
"There's nothing wrong with you
The simple life gets complicated
There's nothing you can do
Just enjoy the view, be glad you made it..."

Back to the Future IV: Spam-Busters
03 Sep 2006
Fleetwood Mac - Little Lies
"Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies
(tell me lies, tell me, tell me lies)
Oh, no, no you cant disguise
(you cant disguise, no you cant disguise)
Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies..."

In memoriam: Steve Irwin, 1962 - 2006
04 Sep 2006
Mary-Chapin Carpenter - Hero In Your Own Hometown
"Now I'm long away and very far, from gazing at an evening sky
From wishing on a shooting star, from thinking that a heart can't lie
This world is gonna wear you thin, knot you up and spin you round
This world will take its aim, call you every name, trying to bring you down

Everything seems so clear when you're looking back from such a distance
When the road not taken disappears into the path of least resistance
But once upon a time oh so long ago
Underneath this same old sky every brand new road

Would know that we were heroes in our own hometown
Nothing less than heroes in that old hometown
We still loved a hero in our own hometown
Baby you could be a hero in your own hometown"

Good company
05 Sep 2006
Fleetwood Mac - No Questions Asked
"You haven't and you have no time for it
You feel completely indifferent
You feel pushed up against the wall
And then one day it just almost goes away
You spend lots of time alone
Sometimes you spend years...
I need you now no questions asked"

Hi, I'm banazir, and I'm a hoarder.
No, really. Can't throw things away. One catalog at a time. One page, one scrap at a time. I might need it later!

Quelle vitesse: NIST Machine Translation workshop
06 Sep 2006
Mary-Chapin Carpenter - What You Didn't Say
"I can read your eyes just like a book
You tell me different, but I know that look
And I don't have to guess what's between the lines..."

eFax, FaxZero, and more
07 Sep 2006
Fleetwood Mac - Tusk
"Why don't you tell me what's going on?
Why don't you tell me who's on the phone?"

NationStates Economy
08 Sep 2006
Fleetwood Mac - Go Your Own Way
"If I could
Baby I'd give you my world
Open up
Everything's waiting for you
You can go your own way
Go your own way..."

"Bugs" and "software incompatibilities"
09 Sep 2006
Fleetwood Mac - Over My Head
"Sometimes I can't help but feel
That I'm wasting all of my time

Think I'm looking on the dark side
But everyday you hurt my pride
I'm over my head
But it sure feels nice..."

Banacomputing: status report
10 Sep 2006
Indigo Girls - Closer To Fine
"I spent four years prostrate to the higher mind
Got my paper and I was free

I went to the doctor, I went to the mountains
I looked to the children, I drank from the fountains
There's more than one answer to these questions
Pointing me in a crooked line
And the less I seek my source for some definitive
The closer I am to fine..."

9/11: Retrospectives
11 Sep 2006
Tori Amos - Jackie's Strength
"No matter what they've got to say
If you love enough you'll lie a lot
Guess they did in Camelot
Mama's waiting on my front lawn
I pray
I pray
I pray
For Jackie's strength..."

I must credit this selecton to the widow of one of United 93's passengers, who said she realized that the source of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy's strength in the face of tragedy was her children.

Bioinformatics Ontologies
12 Sep 2006
Kylie Minogue - Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi

OK, this one was just for the title, not the lyrics.
You try finding lyrics for "bioinformatics ontologies"! ;-)

I couldn't resist adding one for you that you might appreciate:

http://laptopmag.com/Features/Attack-of-the-20-inch-Notebook.htm

I'll give you the song (for title only) of "Large in the Margin" by 311.

Also, I was watching Amazing Race with my husband tonight, and when I saw some of the sights, I blurted out, "I've been there!" Which was very funny, as I have never been to China. What I meant to say was that I recognized the places from your wonderful travelogue!
