Angband

taiji_jian reports the astounding but intriguing news that he has the Roguelike game Angband running on a brick of a P5-120 notebook computer I sent him, with Andrew White's borg, APWborg.

I'm not sure which is funnier - the fact that he got it working in Windows 98 on a 10-year-old Pentium notebook, or the fact that barring supa-Hiro-ism, we're both going to be in our forties by the time it finishes killing Morgoth.

Hrm. An earlier APWBorg on a somewhat slow Mac was killing Morgoth fairly regularly... (and yes, this is a fairly belated response!!) though a more recent borg is having no joy, in part because no recent borg's been compiled for the Mac and my attempts to do so have hit against the wall of my ignorance... it may be time to try again soon. The most recent Mac APWBorg has troubles that are, well, game-fatal (hrm, teleport-away or teleport? I think I'll teleport... oh. Bad idea. Oops?) Solved soon after that version was compiled, from Prof. White's notes.
