Whiteboard "something else" -- eraser gunk that leaves your hands and anything else you touch all black.

Blackboard "something else" -- the way it never erases completely, so by the end of the lesson it's hard to read new chalk marks.

Thing I hate with blackboards: Green blackboards used with yellow chalk....it's part of the reason I sucked at Chem 2...couldn't read the damn board in the front row.

I love polls!!

Failpoll
I am ultimate fail at polls. I had to repost the sleep one three times:

1. I posted a place holder for the poll, and then created the poll, and thought I could just copy-paste the code that goes "<lj-poll-1296365>" and it would stay. If you do that, it seems to be aliased (the new post and the old one point to the same poll), but if you delete the new post, the old one won't let you fill out or view the poll any more! "You do not have permission to see this poll." AUUUGH.

Meanwhile, scionofgrace reminded me that I forgot tea for a caffeinated drink.

2. I then re-created the poll, and to change the order because I wanted to leave this chalkboard poll be, but then... I forgot to make the "compounds" question a check box. Because I had inserted a question (on "all-nighters") it came all out of order. *facepalm*

3. I re-created it AGAIN, and... it didn't actually keep the order or the change from "radio" to "check". You have to either explicitly change it in the poll editor or generate the poll code and mess with it by hand. *headdesk*

Oh, and... it keeps reverting dates/times and friendslock status to defaults (present time, public).

Re: Failpoll
Oy wow.

You could write a book on how to/how not to LJ polls! (I just wrote pools instead. If only there was an LJ pool to swim in!)

Re: Failpoll
Any particular reason for the polls? Or did I miss it in a post?

whiteboard *something else*....I can't control the markers like I can chalk. Too untidy.
I like polls too. :-)

I hate that wiping a white board often leaves marker residue on sleeves and hands.

How about smartboard and computer?

Smartboard and computer
Ever since I spent the summer at the University of Illinois, where the basement labs have those, I've been wary. The little sub-microATX PCs they have running these are unresponsive due to low RAM and slow procs; the eraser and marker-sensitive monitors are sluggish too for some reason; and it's pretty expensive compared to my trusty Canon S-50 digital camera plus some markers, paper towels and glass cleaner.

Re: Smartboard and computer
Your 'trusty Canon S-50 digital camera plus some markers, paper towels and glass cleaner' doesn't have a fraction of the functionality of a Smart Board.

Here in Vancouver we've got several project schools that use them with tremendous effect.

I absolutely hate the way whiteboards reflect light. If you're sitting in the wrong place they can be completely unreadable. However, they are rather useful for data that mostly needs to stay but occasionally needs updating.
