um *blinks* I'd say the ability to draw is not really subjective. Whether someone likes his usual drawing style is.

...I'm just surprised someone would ask the former about a professional artist. (Of course, I might just be taking this all too literally...)

Assertions
"Frank Miller can't draw" is something I hear from a lot of his critics. Few, if any, of those are professional artists themselves, who as you say would give a more objective critique and perhaps the benefit of the doubt.

I personally think his style, especially in 300 is rough and it doesn't always work well or commit well to the big screen. I haven't seen The Dark Knight Returns; I liked some parts of Sin City and disliked others, in about equal measure; and I disliked the look of 300 on the page and especially on the screen. I also think Miller is far overrated by most people who see his stuff, especially compared to some of the artists I consider better, but that's just MHO.

He's very stylized...the dialogue is hokey though. I do like his style and enjoyed the movies of "300" and "Sin City".

Tonight we dine at Sonic!
I love those "tonight we dine at" icons. Can you please tell me, if you remember, where you got yours? I'm specifically looking for "tonight we dine at Sonic".

I agree about Sin City, and I disagree in the case of 300. It may just be that I like atmosphere in noir and not in classical/mythohistorical fiction.

I consider The Dark Knight Returns Frank Miller's must-read - if one has more than a passing familiarity with Batman, and an appreciation for a dark story (i.e. a Batman fan).

Sin City and 300 (both the graphic novels and the movies) are extremely "cinematic" (aka "awesome"), which appeals to some people more than most. The graphic novels have the advantage of being gritty and realistic in a way that the real world can't quite be.

Frank Miller's main problem as an artist is summed up thusly.
