"And you come to me on a submarine" - Bee Gees, How Deep Is Your Love

Quick google shows I wasn't the only one...

Beatles and Bee Gees
... tend to have huge numbers of misheard lyrics.

"Wear the fake fur, fake balls for me" - Electric Barbarella, Duran Duran

it's actually "wear the fake fur, fake pearls for me" but Simon's accent makes it difficult for an american to hear differently (his promounciation is closer to "purls" than "pearls")

They're pronounced differently?
Seriously?

purl/pearl - pure homophones for me. (And I believe that in knitting, the opposite of a knit stitch used to be called a pearl stitch because it made a little pearl-like bump on the smooth knit surface.)

purl/ball - not homophones for me. If it were parl/ball, I could see it, and might easily have a hard time hearing the difference between 'parlor' and 'baller'. But for purl/ball... no.

At least, that's what my New England ears would hear. What part of the US are you from?

I just lol'd in my cubicle. Now I'm going to think of that whenever I hear that song.

I only just discovered yesterday that Katy Perry says "I got so brave, drink in hand" in "I Kissed A Girl." I always thought it was "drinkin' ale" or something. Because apparently I think she's Beowulf or whatever.

I always mishear 'god made man but he used the monkey to do it' as 'god made man with a bucket of plywood glue' (Devo - Jocko Homo).
I've also misheard 'My only promise is that I'll never tell' as 'my only is that I have a tail' (Foo Fighters - Wind Up).
