If wishes were horses

I am preparing to post a "best wishes" list to my LJ friends who are getting ready to start new positions, jobs, or even careers, but afore I let any cats out of the bag: could you please post (or e-mail me privately) to let me know if it's a secret? If so, I will wait or just leave your name off the list, as you prefer. I may ask you in your LJ, but I won't say anything unless you've already posted publically. That said, please let me know if you would like to be included in my wish list! (That includes those of you who are just considering a change of job or major.)

The WB

  • Smallville S3 spring premiere ("Asylum"): yowza, now that was powerful. A worthy story for explaining the rift between Lex and Clark. As Einstein exhorted, as simple as possible, but no simpler.

  • Angel S5 spring premiere ("Harm's Way"): hilarious! 'Nuff said. (Really, or istari_ala will trask me fro spoilers.)

  • One Tree Hill is vert cllo! Moira Kelly, Bethany Joy Lenz, and Sophia Bush... yoikes.

Today's Quizzes

I forget where I saw these three:
What is your emo band name? by spiralinghalo
Your band name is:Poems to Angelica
You sound like:Jimmy Eat World
You will be signed to:Triple Crown Records
Your emo lyrics are:"I would give you thirty clouds if I could listen to your smile again"
Name:
Created with quill18's MemeGen!

I'm 53% fanatical about IM.
How sick are you?
(Only 53%?)

This last one has appeared in the LJs of deire and phawkwood (Good) and in that of masteralida (Neutral):

How evil are you?

The original answers that got me "neutral": IE, England, Jesus freaks OR don't classifiy, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Mind Powers, Politician, Pop, Chicken, SciFi, Philosophy.
Changing Chicken to Fish (more accurate) OR SciFi to Drama (ditto for all movies, as opposed to ones I see in theatres only) makes me "Good".
At one point I put "Gospel music" and got "Angelic", then switched from SF to Drama and went from "Angelic" to "Twisted".
This quiz is too senstive, is wot.

From yahvah:
You Are Romans
You are Romans.

Which book of the Bible are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

The Voice: I thought mostlyacat would be amuzzled by this:
"Female voices? Who cares about female voices?!"
- my uncle, the Mouth of Gateswe, 1995 (when I told him I wanted to develop an improved GSM compressor and asked about upper-band frequencies)

Aside: gondhir observed that I tend to pack (and overedit) some of my LJ posts, so I've decided to break them up and restructure them a bit for coherence.
I'm still working on how to do that, so bear with me.

You are Romans.

That was my result, too (twice). But there were questions to which none of the answers was really accurate for me.

I think if you give all "Psalms answers" and one "loud and arrogant", it makes you Romans. :-D

Knot teh YHWH
Knot the YHWH!
(Sorry, Dinosaurs ref.)

How do yew know? Have yew seen Him/Her/It/Wotever?
I have seen:

  • Zemin Jiang (on TV adn in pics)

  • William Henry Gates III (at distance of about 8m)

  • Kai-Fu Lee (at a frighteningly short distance)

and I feel confident that none of them is YHWH.

Yes, and not just replies, but entries.

I think the above, for e.g., could easily and productively have been posted as 2 or 3 ...
Well, yes, and that's what gondhir was getting at.
I tend to think in fragmented fashion when writing LJ psots, and my topic meanders, much like a TEUNC caht, acos that's how my topics usually get generated.

I do agree with you both, but as you've surely noticed, I rather like erebrandir's LiveJournal posting approach of having at least one entry per day. Only for me it's become "exactly one entry per day". That's become such a habit that I think I'm pretty much set in my ways for this LJ.

Rather than spin off several LJs as my friend kissmyascii has done, I think I will keep this one and post "extras" to either teunc or my tronkie groups as appropriate. This way my main LJ will stay focused on the "primary topic" (my point... and I do have one, as Ellen Degeneres wrote). Clarity and simplicity, ne?

I decided that I wouldn't force the issue into the "here's what I had for dinner" navel-gazing if I really ran out of things to say each day, but lately I've found that I do have a few things to say, so there's been no shortage of topics.

As for spinoffs, I'm still contemplating a DeadJournal. That will definitely not have at least one post every day, nor at most one.

Thanks for the good advice - I do appreciate it.

Ahar! Category and taxonomical jibber-jabber off the starboard bow!

One post a day containing 3, 4, or more topics ... topics which could stand on their own, and perhaps even /should/ stand on their own ... that's /literally/ one post a day, but that benefits nobody and clarifies nothing.

FWIW I'd just as soon have a single thread per post, with a possible sidebar.

Silly monk - dwarves dknot ride horses!
(Hay, are yew a dwarf or a hobbit?)

Hrm, adn now I have the Four Dragonkriders of the Rapocalypse in my mind. "... and behold, a pale dwagin."

Loonking up the Four Horsemen, I discover that there's actually some identity uncertainty. To wit: #2 (Red) is War, #3 (Black) is Famine, but #4 (Pale Green == chloros) is actually Death/Pestilence and #1 (White) is sometimes interpreted as the conquering Christ.

IIRC, Piers Anthony and Terry Pratchett have both popularized some versions of the Horsemen.
