Still shattered, but the post brought me ST Reboot, Survival and the first of my paltry Xmas shopping. Yesterday brought Matt Hills' Fan Cultures which should help me with the Media Studies aspects of the TIC project. My friend Ross (JOMEC Ph.D in his writing up year) thinks that I'll eventually be giving several presentations on the project(!) and may get a book out of it (!!). I'm not sure how the permissions aspect of that would work-- everything everyone has put up is in public, so technically fair game for analysis/photos and legally I'm fairly sure I'm in the clear. That being said, some people have put their name and drawn/written stuff which I'd be reproducing in photo form (but not always giving a name with what they've made) so... *sigh* I guess what I'll do is (when I'm actually close enough to the time when I'd be worrying about such things) is put out an internet call saying that if someone doesn't want me to use something, or wants me to withhold a name, to contact me by such-and-such a date. Does that sound fair/responsible, O Flist?

I've also thought about setting up an LJ comm or page where I can just update people on what I'm doing at the TIC memorial, though given that atm it's pretty much dry archaeology (well, not literally dry of laet, but...) I'm not sure if that'll be of interest to anyone yet. I might hold off until I compile stuff over the Xmas holiday. I'm not prepared to do a proper website yet-- that'll wait until I can actually draw conclusions of some kind beyond 'I think it's...um...y'know...stuff...(I'm not insane!)'

I'm in two groups that are really big on the play by email stuff. And both are really active. Like insanely active. Like I squeed with joy because I was sure I'd never be bored again active.

However, every time I put forth a request for any scenes I get totally ignored. Even when I have an actual scenario to present to people it tends to get completely over looked in favor of something else, even something like bullshit, mundane conversation. Sometimes in the same email that I send out.

Both groups have told me that I'm a good writer and they want me there... but if that's the case, why does everything I send out barely get a nibble? Even when it's an exact scenario? Maybe I'm the bad rper here, because I certainly am starting to feel like all I'm doing is taking up space.
