Our back-yard neighbor cut down three fir trees straddling the border between our plots, and put up this fence:

:g: It kindasorta invites equestrian activity, doesn't it?

That's my gaffer's garden in front. It's been shifted 4 feet forward.

Indeed
I thought about doing so yesterday, but now I have to pick some before the birds nibble them full of holes (I didn't believe it was birds until I saw it myself).

Welcome, BTW.

It should be evident what the only candidate for my spirit guide would be.

Badger.

Fir trees
Have I posted pics of them before?

The fir trees were a little lop-sided and the trunks were about 6' into their yard, allowing our garden to encroach a little. I'd gladly have pulled the garden back to keep them, though. 30-60 years old by my estimate. Sigh.

Good question
I think either the birds eat them, or the peaches are too recently ripe. It's been cool this July, but not nippy.

In August it gets up to 90-100+ (in late August of 2000 there was a week of 109-degree weather - yes, 43C).1

1 istari_ala - dknot worry, it's only that hot a week of the year, as I think I told you. And everybuddy else - pwease still visit me! :-D

Better hurry - in another couple of months, you get nothing but zucchini, chives, and a ton of red hot chili peppers. ;-)

You certainly may - thanks for asking.
Where in Manhattan, KS are you?
I started that meetup, IIRC. Most users of LJ here are my students. :-)

Your blog looks pretty neat. :)
Thanks!

would the climate in Kansas be classified as, emm, "temperate"?

(note_to_self:
c: hmm... peaches... coincidence?
)

Yes.

Not so much.
Not excruciatingly cold in winter, more sweltering than balmy in summer. Here in northeast KS, anyhow.

Kansan proverb: "If you don't like the weather... wait a few hours. It'll change."

(note_to_self:
c: hmm... peaches... coincidence?)

Hrm?

also, thank you for the quiz. i love these.
You're welcome!
