Cowboy Bebop

OK, I'm hooked.
I watched #5, Ballad of Fallen Angels, last week around 03:00, and was immediately IMing miajesbar to declaim what a great series this is.

masaga, zengeneral, you really have to spread the word to the uninitiated masses! (Or am I the only remnant of said mass? Nobody ever tells me anything!)

Seriously, guys, I have not yet had time to watch GoldenBoy.
Work beckons.

Great choice of anime!

It remains my favorite. The beauty of the episodes never fails to make me grateful to the production team.

It's _art_.

Good taste
My friends and students have good taste.

Well, when they aren't being zany and suggesting things such as GoldenBoy.

Eh.. Golden Boy? Are we talking the anime series "Golden Boy"? Why would anyone want to watch that crap, especially after Bebop?
Forget Golden Boy, get yourself Samurai Champloo - from people who brought you Cowboy. Or perhaps Trigun, which is often paired with CB, although I don't really know why, except for the fact that both have lonesome heroes with guns.

Eh, well, who'd want to watch Friends after Angel?
Or Smallville after Lost? (Just kidding.)

Different niches, different genre, really.

Wlokay. I do appreciate your nexpert opinion.
Be forewarned, though: you'll take an equal share of the traskings when I become addicted. ;-)

Say, you've been scarce on AIM lately. You still around?

Re: To which?
Intermittently. I don't get on AIM during the day while I'm at work, and in the evenings I haven't been home much.

You ought to give "Steel Angel Kurumi" a chance as well. And if you're feeling silly, "Excel Saga" is sure to please. *teehee*

I recently saw "Spirited Away" for the first time. It was wonderful. I watched it over and over and over again...

The thing about anime titles is: they mean absolutely nothing to me. Where do they come up with them?

Two answers to that: (A) we must bear in mind that it's coming out of another culture, which means us English speakers will feel awkward with it anyway, and (B)it seems like they always go for literal translations with the titles. I had opportunity to recently giggle at the original Japanese name for the Transformers cartoon: "Tatakae! Chô robot seimeitai Transformer" which can be translated to "Super God Robot Force." Teehee!

The Anime Conjecture of LJ icons:
You can tell a lot about an anime series by the LJ icons that people use to respond to a thread about it. :-)

To watch?
... or to post? ;)

I'm slow that way sometimes. Late bloomer and all.

In any case, score a conversion for deire, though it's really more of phawkwood's nefarious influence from last winter. Trask you, phawkwood!

Well, true
So, do you have any recommendations other than CB?

(I still can't figure out when Adult Swim airs here.
The local cable listings, my VCR and DVD players, and my schedule are all pretty trasked up right now.)

Of course I was!
I was busy avoiding it cf. Odysseus and the sirens, as I knew I would succumb entirely when I gave in and watched the first one.

Must... have... CB... fix...
