Anniversaire 2

Today is the one-year anniversary of my GreatestJournal and the two-year anniversary of my LiveJournal.

Highlights, 27 Feb 2003 - 26 Feb 2004
(When I have more time, I will put 2004 highlights here.)

Oh, my: if you haven't listened to the Earthsea (Sci-Fi Pictures Original Miniseries) soundtrack by Jeff Rona, or gave up on it because you didn't care for the fast-and-loose-playing with LeGuin's masterwork, give it a chance. However disappointed you were in the miniseries - and I admit, it was a little lackluster - you'll probably still love the music. This review says it well.

I liked it, though I'm not particularely familiar with the source material so that may help me.

Good enough for now
Yes, precisely - it's adequate, and plenty of spectacle and eye candy, if you aren't looking for a famous epic. As a 4-hour Sci-Fi miniseries, it's quite worth while.

OTOH, I thought Children of Dune was quite true to the spirit of the b--- oh, look! Here comes borgseawolf to take my water, woohoo!

Re: Good enough for now
Unfortunately I haven't gotten around to Children of Dune yet (though I did enjoy the first dune miniseries despite the directors strange addition of the emporers daughter as a major character, I honestly can't figure out why he didn't think he had enough material already but...)

Irulan's pretty nicely worked into CoD.
Still more screen time than she gets in the book, but interesting and sympathetic.

NOT LeGuin's Earthsea
It's more than all right if you don't expect it to be LeGuin's Earthsea, so I hear, and so I see from reading bits of it here and there. I have A Wizard of Earthsea, I just need a few hours to devour it.
