A Third Space Power

You've probably all heard the news by now about Shenzhou V, the first piloted Chinese space flight, which lifted off tonight, but just in case...
(Is it just me, or does "holy vessel" sound a little excessive? :-))

Today was a good day: I got a paper accepted to the journal Information Sciences that has been under review since May of 2002 (for a special issue, which makes that an unusually long review period). Later I heard that my Singaporean grad student, Chris Zhong, finally got his visa yesterday and can come back to K-State in December. He went back to serve his 6-month term in Sporean army and visa delays stuck him there for an extra semester (he was supposed to be back by August).

Got this this afternoon:
You are Form 0, Phoenix: The Eternal.

"And The Phoenix's cycle had reached zenith, so he consumed himself in fire. He emerged from his own ashes, to be forever immortal." Some examples of the Phoenix Form are Quetzalcoatl (Aztec), Shiva (Indian), and Ra-Atum (Egyptian). The Phoenix is associated with the concept of life, the number 0, and the element of fire. His sign is the eclipsed sun. As a member of Form 0, you are a determined individual. You tend to keep your sense of optimism, even through tough times and have a positive outlook on most situations. You have a way of looking at going through life as a journey that you can constantly learn from.
Phoenixes are the best friends to have because they cheer people up easily.

We've returned the Pontiac Vibe and gotten the Honda Accord LX back. I didn't get to drive it much as we didn't have insurance on the rental, but I've lawaz gotten behind the wheel of every rental or borrowed car my family has used since I've been able to drive (even if it's just tooling it around a parking lot :-)). As I expected, the Vibe has nice power and handles well, but is a little clunky.

My dad found my green laser pointer on the floor of the Honda, where it's been since yesterday morning! That'll teach me to carry it around without its case.
