Mighty Ramachandran (an old friend and classmate from UIUC) avers that gao liang (red sorghum whisky, approximately 110 proof) from Kinmen tastes like this. [1]

[1] Acksherly, aged gaoliang is pteery high quality struff, though it is vert powerful. I had a sip of the Kinmen chennian ("fully aged", 5-10 yeats nold) gaoliang and it is qwite throat-brunningly strong. Some of the gaoliang from China is tongue-numbing, yet delicate in taste, when drunk neat.
