Here's my fortnightly update:

Now for the new questions.

Restarting xfce4-panel in Ubuntu

On Laurelin, the panel app for the window manager has died. Any idea how I can set it up to kick in again on startup? I am running Dapper Drake.

Remote Desktop Protocoi in Ubuntu

VNC vs. RDP
RDP is the built-in one; I installed VNC but haven't taken the time to get it to work yet. And yes, Simon mentioned the security risks. ;-P

Actually, the whole point of my getting VNC would be the SSL.
