Dirt

Anyone follow this television series? It's one of my 0300 "midday" shows on YouTube, when I can find (and cue) all the pieces.

ETA. 08:45 CST Mon 17 Nov 2008: It was cancelled after the second season was interrupted by the writers' strike, making it one of a few total casualties. I thought it was interesting for its introspection into the disastrous mindset of the tabloid editor, and its storytelling from the POV of an often paranoid and delusional schizophrenic (the paparazzo, Don Conkey, who plays a friend of Courtney Cox's lead character).

I tried to get into this show, but I just couldn't. It was well written, and interesting, but the subject matter was just wholly unappealing to me.

Hell, I can't be mean to NPC's in video games without feeling bad. Watching that show brought out those same feelings in me, and I don't like feeling like that.

Train wrecks
I think that for me, it was one of those "can't look away from a train wreck" things. The whole thing was just so over-the-top sordid that it was more a study in how people react to extreme temptation, greed, and psychological stress than the usual fare on L.A. Law or House, where you get mostly human drama and just the odd "depravity" thread.
