As scheduled, we returned from the retreat today. Shing I asked me to give a ride back to one of Zhijian Pei's visiting research assistants, a Ph.D. student from Huaqiao University in China. My mom and I went to Science City with him and saw the Liberty 7 exhibit, which was quite interesting.
The drive back from KC went uneventfully, though I did miss the I-70 West exit at first. I'd have had to cut very abruptly across two lanes of fast traffic, and I've found that even when I don't get a massive fit of screeching tires and car horns, it tends to freak my folks out. So, it took 02:25 instead of 02:05.
A horse is a horse, of course, of course: I got an embarrasingly huge amount of designer clothing for Christmas this year... looking at what is laid out on my bed:
- Ralph Lauren (Chaps)
- Tommy Hilfiger
- Banana Republic
This is embawwassing! If you've met me, you know that I dress in typical tronkie fashion, though I've owned a few shirts and sweaters from the first two labels in the past. Suddenly I've got an entire wardrobe. (This is mostly due to my mom and grandma using my closet as the dumping ground for stray gifts that are deemed "too young" for my uncles and older cousins.)
