Forgive me, I am a busy woman. I put in an album and listen to it till i cant deal with it another time. Sufficient reason for my answers I think.

1. Recommend some good road trippin' music.
My favorite Road Trippin Music is "the recurring dream" (the whole album - except 1 song over and over again) by Crowded House and "Intergalactic" (or really anything else) by Baestie Boys

2. While you're at it, recommend some good, depressing, cathartic music.
Tom Waits' "Small Change" Album (especially Tom Traubert....no, wait, yeah, just about all of it)

3. How about some upbeat, happy, cheer-you-up music?
Just about anything by Duran Duran (old or new - except their Liberty album - that sucked), Def Leppard, or Weird Al,... oh, or the soundtrack to Ocean's Eleven, and of course, "Wild WIld Life" by the Talking Heads

4. And some motivating, empowering, take-on-the-world music?
Metallica's Black Album, Offspring, Tracy Bonam's "Mother Mother", Apcalyptica (for the subversive takeover), Classic Moments from the Bill Gaither Trio (vol 1&2) and the themesong to the Adult Swim show "Aquateen Hunger Force"

Colloopers

Oh, another collooper!
(n.) - one who loops MP3s or audio CDs until he or she collapses.
Hail and well met!

Thanks for the recommendations.
I see that my musical palate needs broadening.
"Intergalactic" by the Beastie Boys and Weird Al are the only two things from your list that I've heard!
